August 2020, nudge has launched alumni experience, a new feature that allows employers to continue providing nudge access to employees after they leave the organization.

Support that doesn’t end at offboarding

Whether an employee resigns or leaves as part of a business restructure, employers have an opportunity, and in many cases a responsibility, to keep supporting them through that transition. Alumni experience allows former employees to keep their access to nudge, so they can continue benefiting from impartial, personalized financial education during a significant change in their circumstances.

What’s in it for the employer?

A positive final impression does more than preserve goodwill. It shapes how a company is seen by everyone still watching, including current employees and future candidates. Most job candidates read company reviews before applying, and a meaningful share read several before forming an opinion, so how an organization treats people on their way out carries real weight with people deciding whether to join.

It also keeps the door open. A significant share of new hires each year are boomerang employees rejoining a former employer within a few years of leaving, and continuing to support someone’s financial wellbeing after they go makes that return more likely.

There’s a wellbeing case too, separate from reputation. Leaving a job, whether by choice or not, is one of the more financially disruptive moments in someone’s working life. Continuing access to impartial financial education during that period reflects genuine care for people’s circumstances, not just their output while employed.

And for HR and reward teams managing a restructuring or redundancy program, alumni experience offers a concrete way to extend support to affected employees at the moment they need it most, without building a separate process from scratch.

As one of the first organizations to enable this new feature, Ricardo D’Ash, Group Reward Manager, City & Guilds Group, comments:

Unfortunately, we went through a redundancy program. But it was important that we continued to support those people affected. Through this offering, they maintain access to nudge as a vital resource – and it's been really well received, with lots of positive feedback on how it’s helping them on their journey.

Simple to offer

Alumni experience is folds into an employer’s existing offboarding journey, using the same process already in place. The launch builds on nudge’s new financial health checkup and friends and family feature introduced earlier this year, extending nudge’s support beyond the employment relationship itself.
