Money worries don't stop at national borders. But for global employers, supporting employees with their finances across different countries, cultures, and financial systems can be complex.
For this multinational organization, with more than 800,000 employees across 58 countries, employee feedback revealed a consistent need. People wanted to feel more in control of their money, but existing support wasn't giving them the confidence or practical knowledge they needed to make everyday financial decisions.
The organization set a clear goal; help employees and their families build greater financial confidence, wherever they live.
That meant finding a way to deliver one consistent global approach to financial education while keeping support locally relevant and personal.
The organization partnered with nudge to provide impartial, personalized financial education across its global workforce.
Employees received financial education tailored to their location, life stage, interests, and goals; available across 18 languages.
Support also extended beyond the employee. Each person could invite up to five family members to access nudge, recognizing that financial decisions are often made at a household level.
Employees leaving the organization could retain access for six months too; providing continued support during a significant moment of change.
The result was support that reflected employees' real lives rather than giving everyone the same information.
For a program to make an impact at this scale, employees first need to know it exists and be able to access it easily.
Single sign-on simplified access, while the organization's central wellbeing hub made nudge easy to find.
A global communications campaign spanning newsletters, Microsoft Teams, social channels, and digital screens helped build awareness. Managers were also equipped with ready-to-use toolkits to introduce conversations about money within their teams.
Digital personalization was combined with human expertise.
Local masterclasses and webinars provided relevant financial education around timely topics and key moments, including national budget announcements. Local champions also emerged in countries including Canada, Argentina, the UK and the Philippines; creating more opportunities for employees to talk about money and learn from the support available.
Together, these touchpoints gave employees more ways to engage, learn, and take action.
Employees engaged quickly.
Within the first six months, 27,000 employees across 36 countries had engaged with nudge; reaching half of the organization's annual target.
By year two:
For a workforce operating across dozens of different financial systems and markets, the results demonstrated that a global approach didn't have to mean a one-size-fits-all experience.
Reach and engagement mattered; but the bigger question was whether employees were becoming more financially healthy.
Overall Financial Health Checkup scores increased by six points.
There were significant changes at a local level too. In the UK, the financial health gender gap narrowed from 6% to 1%. In Turkey, financial health scores reached 81.
Employees also brought the support into their wider lives by sharing nudge with family and friends.
And when employees faced particularly difficult moments, the program could respond. Employees affected by redundancy were supported with dedicated financial resilience masterclasses; providing relevant education at a time when their financial circumstances and priorities could change quickly.
The goal wasn't simply to give employees more financial information. It was to help people understand where they stood, build knowledge and confidence, and make informed decisions.
For U.S. Total Rewards and Benefits leaders managing multinational workforces, this is often the central challenge; how do you create a consistent global strategy while responding to different financial systems, cultures, languages and life circumstances?
This program demonstrates one approach.
Rather than building separate financial education programs market by market, the organization established one global foundation and personalized the experience locally.
Employees received education relevant to where they lived and what mattered to them; while the organization gained a more consistent approach across its global workforce.
The results show that financial health doesn't have to be treated as a standalone wellbeing initiative.
It can become part of how an organization helps employees navigate their finances, workplace benefits, and important life moments.
By combining impartial financial guidance, intelligent technology, and human expertise, this organization created an experience that could operate at global scale while remaining relevant to individual employees.
The result was measurable engagement and stronger financial health; with almost 14,000 Financial Health Checkups completed, engagement across 93% of countries, and overall financial health scores improving by six points.
For global employers, that's the opportunity; one financial health platform, personalized for every employee, helping people understand their finances and take action wherever they are in the world.
